Christening/ Thanksgiving

A new life is always a time to rejoice and we are always happy to discuss opportunities for baptism and thanksgiving services with parents. If you do not already attend one of our Sunday services we encourage parents to attend church for at least six weeks prior to making a decision, so that you are fully aware of what it means to be part of the church family and whether you wish to join that family through christening.  A member of the clergy team is always available throughout the process to answer questions and arrange details.

Due to Church of England regulations, it is unusual to christen anyone who lives outside of the parish or does not have direct connections with the church.

Please contact the vicar, who will then write to you with more information.

Thanksgiving is a service that some parents choose if they realise they cannot make the public declaration of faith required by christening.  It is a similar service to a christening, including Godparents (often called sponsors), but without water.
