For Older People

The life and spirituality of older people is valued in our parish and we cherish the faithfulness of many who are maybe now too frail to come to church regularly.

Midweek Services (Holy Communion except for 3rd Wednesday which is Morning Worship)
St Stephen’s,
10am, Wednesdays

This morning communion welcomes a number of older people who find the busy-ness of Sunday mornings too much and prefer the sedate pace of the spoken service. Sitting in the choir stalls often helps with audibility too. Lifts can be arranged for those with transport difficulties who may wish to attend this service.

Kaleidoscope
Church Hall (Gordon Lacey Hall), 2pm, Second Tuesday of the month

This social group offers friendship and fellowship to anyone who would like to join. Previously the Mothers' Union, the group is now open to men and women and regularly has up to 30 members attending.  Each meeting has a different speaker, a bring and buy stall, raffle and refreshments.  We like to raise money for a different charity each year with this year's money going to the Padley Centre. See our calendar for the date of our next meeting.

Briar Close House Residential Home
7pm,
First Wednesday every month

We hold a service in the main lounge of the home and encourage residents to attend to enjoy the hymn singing, bible readings, discussion and prayers. For many, these services are the only opportunity to meet with other Christians to worship and pray. We are building good relationships among the residents and staff and very much enjoy the time we spend there.

Pastoral visiting

We have a team of Christian visitors who are happy to come and see you at home if you are isolated and unable to get out and about. They will come for a chat and maybe a cup of tea, always finding time to sit and pray with you before they leave.  If you would like a member of the team to visit you, or someone you know, please get in touch with us.

Home Communion

If you are ill, or confined to your home and would like to receive Home Communion, please contact one of the clergy.
